An old Italian legend has it that Befana visits homes every year on Epiphany Eve and makes presents for children.
This is a heart-touching story by Gianni Rodari about an old lady Befana who owns a toy store. The toys watch the hum of the snowy town standing on the windowpane – obedient to their fate and the will of the whimsical shopkeeper. However, a miracle happens, and they all become alive on Epiphany Night and board on the fabulous train called the Blue Arrow and start their journey to give themselves to poor kids whose parents can’t afford to buy presents for their children. The passengers of the Blue Arrow are wonderful examples of love, self-sacrifice and friendship for all little readers.
